This Kathamandu outskirt day hike takes you up to the north to Chisapani in the beginning and to the east to Sanga the next day. Breathtaking mountain views, the pristine forests, and typical rural areas lie on the way—supplying with not only the little exercise to your muscle but also the refreshing breath and experience off the clean mountain air and unsophisticated country life.
The hike starts with a drive to Sundarijal, a popular picnic spot to the north of Kathmandu valley. Then you make a leisurely walk for about 4 hours to Chisapani, a very popular Tamang village. The village offers outstanding sceneries of Dorje Lakpa and Everest range. We spend a night here, wake up early in the morning to see the superb sunrise and take a hike to Sanga via Lapsiphedi. This is again an exciting day, alternating the scenes of Kathmandu valley with the Himalayam Mountains in the north and valleys to the east of Kathmandu. In the evening, a van will pick you up from Sanga. All the better if you want to spend your night there.

Day 1: Drive to Sundarijal and Hike to Chisapani
We have our breakfast and drive for a few hours to Sundarijal to the north of Kathmandu. Then we walk leisurely to Chisapani, a beautiful settlement of Tamang ethnicity. This village offers mouth watering views of mountains like Dorje Lakpa and Everest range to the east. Do not miss the views of sunset and sunrise over the mountain views from this village.

Day 2: Hike from Chisapani to Sanga via Lapsiphedi
We make another exciting hike today, through villages, farms, and forests. There will be amazing views of the mountains in the north, in the east of the fertile Indrawati valley and the west of the Kathmandu valley itself. As you arrive at Sanga, a van will pick you up and take you to your hotel in Kathmandu.

Fitness Level:

This trip requires you to be in good health and physically fit.

Skills:

Your familiarity with the mountainous terrain and previous trekking experience will be plus points.

Travel Insurance:

  • Make sure that you are insured against cancellations, accidents, health, emergency evacuation and loss, theft of, or damage to, baggage and personal effects.
  • In emergency situations, we will arrange for a helicopter rescue, medical treatment and after care for you. All these costs shall be borne by your travel insurance company.
